ARTISTS’ STUDIO & RESIDENCE
The extensive renovation of this historic Milwaukee storefront, led by the inspired designs of artist and homeowner Pam Ferderbar, placed an importance on highlighting the best of the building’s character while also incorporating plush, modern finishes and fixtures. The result of this collaboration created an aesthetic not unlike a Parisian loft. All new light-toned finishes create an open feeling throughout, making it an ideal setting for the client’s in-home studio. The added function of custom bedroom and bathroom built-in cabinetry takes advantage of vertical space, offering plenty of articulately designed storage while concealing appliances and everyday items.

The vintage painted bathroom door, a family relic, was carefully fit by adding a custom casing. Additionally, velour tempered glass replaced original panels in the bedroom door, allowing a variety of natural and artificial light to spill from room to room. The hand-painted pantry window, inspired by a classic farmer’s grocer sign, follows the tone set by the bathroom door, giving a vintage feel to a once modest broom closet. The original pantry door was repurposed by removing two panels and replacing them with new tempered glass revealing custom pantry shelving while warmly back lighting the graphic from above.
